The Ugandan conscious rapper and MC Ecko Bazz’s debut release Tuli Banyo with Kampala-based label Hakuna Kulala in 2018 and Kyusa Embela in 2019 earned him a cult following in the East African underground and global hip-hop and electronic music scene. Bazz has the “versatility and range of a superstar”, bending and mixing genres like UK grime, dancehall, trap, and techno with twisted politicized Lugandan lyricism. He has collaborated on breakneck productions by iconic artists such as Berlin-based producer Debmaster, Japanese beatmaker DJ Die Soon, DJ Scotch Rolex, Italian producer Simone Trabucchi aka STILL and many more.

His song, Mmaso, landed him on the official soundtrack of Need for Speed Unbound, released by EA Games last year. ’Empungu Mubanga’, produced by Kenyan club futurist Slikback, can be found on Radio Darkstar 107.5 in Cyberpunk 2077, the action role-playing game developed by CD Projekt RED. Ecko is a regular headliner in major festivals in Europe in cities like Brussels, Vienna, Milan, Warsaw, and others. On stage, he switches acrobatically between honest truths and chaotic screams, flipping between intensity from verse to verse, always charging his audience with eruptive energy.
